Our History

It all started with a small retail water garden store called Pondwise which operated out of our former landscape offices in Huntsville, Alabama. That small 900-square foot store was basically a hobby to support our own obsession with backyard ponds. 

The business expanded to include not only ponds, filters, fish and aquatic plants, but all aspects of nature and outdoor living. Opening in March 2003, Across the Pond, was the evolution of those humble beginnings. That store now has over 24,000 square feet of covered retail space on 7 acres. 

Today, our product offering has evolved to include most everything associated with outdoor living, such as furniture, grills, fireplaces and fire pits, statuary, fountains, pottery, lighting, hardscapes, landscape supplies and materials, custom blended soils, nature and birding supplies, ponds, fish, garden gifts, and the list goes on. 

Our goal is to offer diverse and interesting products that relate to outdoor living and nature, supported by a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Many of our employees have been with us since our humble beginnings.

What makes us different than your traditional home and garden store is our unique approach to sourcing products all over the globe. Many of our products are sourced direct from global manufacturers.
